These are strange days for Aghaus. By order of the Magistrate, the Royal Guard is to assemble for deployment in two days’ time. It has been years since I last left the capital, and further still that I can remember such a command being issued! But what need is there for a Royal Guard, when no King sits upon the throne? Though my oath binds me to his service, the Magistrate is not my liege. He rules in the absence of a rightful heir.
My men await their orders; they too are uneasy. It is for their sake that I stay my tongue, and place my faith in the Almighty that my fears are unfounded.

Ce sont des jours étranges pour Aghaus. Par ordonnance du Magistrat, la Garde Royale doit se rassembler pour le déploiement dans deux jours. Cela fait longtemps que j’ai quitté la capitale, et cela fait encore plus longtemps que je peux me rappeler d’un ordre pareil ! Mais à quoi sert-elle une Garde Royale, quand aucun roi est assis sur le trône ? Bien que mon serment me lie à son service, le magistrat n’est pas mon seigneur. Il règne en l'absence d'un héritier légitime.
Mes hommes attendent leurs ordres; ils sont trop gênés. C’est dans leur intérêt que j’arrête ma langue, et que je mets ma foi dans le Tout-Puissant afin de croire que mes craintes sont infondées.

Aber welch Nutzen trägt eine königliche Garde, wenn der König nicht auf seinem Throne sitzt? Mein Schwur bindet mich, aber der Stadtvogt ist nicht mein Lehnsherr. Er herrscht in Abwesenheit des rechtmäßigen Erbens.
Meine Männer erwarten ihre Befehle; langsam werden sie ungeduldig. Um ihrer Willen hüte ich meine Zunge und setze mein Vertrauen in den Allmächtigen, auf dass meine Ängste unbegründet sein mögen.

Sono passati anni dall'ultima volta che ho lasciato la capitale, molto oltre nel tempo che mi possa ricordare che fosse stato emesso un comando del genere! Ma che bisogno c'è di una Guardia Reale, quando un Re non siede sul trono? Anche se il mio giuramento mi lega al suo servizio, il Magistrato non è il mio signore. Egli governa in assenza di un erede legittimo.
I miei uomini attendono i loro ordini; anche loro si sentono a disagio. È per il loro bene che io resto di parola, e metto la mia fede nell'Onnipotente affinché i miei timori siano infondati.

Passaram anos desde que deixei a capital pela zltima vez, e mais ainda que eu me lembre de um despacho como este ter sido emitido! Mas qual sera a necessidade para uma Guarda Real, quando nenhum Rei ocupa o trono? Embora meu juramento me ligue a seu servigo, o Magistrado nco i meu suserano. Ele governa na ausjncia de um herdeiro legmtimo.
